ABOUT OUR PRINCIPAL:

Karoline Johnson May became principal of Chelsea Public School in July, 2008. During her first year at Chelsea she got married, and moved to a new home. She currently lives in Middlesex, VT with her husband Josh and their dog Webster. Karoline is a fan of the Patriots, Red Sox, and Carolina Tar Heels. Lately the only teams she follows closely are the Chelsea Red Devils.  She is enjoying being principal at Chelsea.

ABOUT OUR SCHOOL:

Our high school has changed their schedule from 80 minute blocks to 60 minute blocks.  This is intended to enhance the learning of students.  A Learning Block has been added to the schedule to enable students to access to all academic teachers for additional support and instruction.  Each student will have a Learning Advisor, who they will meet with on a weekly basis.  Students will be asked to set learning goals with their advisors, and make a plan for how to best utilize their learning block.

Our middle school is excited to have a three teacher team next year.  The program started with three teachers, then dropped to two when there was a dip in student numbers.  DeRoss Kellogg will be joining the middle school team.  We will be reallocating the budget to enable middle school students access to what they need.  We have posted for a part-time technology teacher and a part-time art teacher.  The search process has been very promising.

Our elementary school will begin their first year as a multi-age school.  We will have one straight kindergarten class, two sections of first and second grade, and three sections of third, fourth, and fifth grade.  This summer teachers are working on curriculum and lesson plans to ensure a successful first year as a multi-age elementary school.
